NorthC Amsterdam: colocation with an independent advisor
NorthC is one of the operators we work with in Amsterdam, alongside Digital Realty and others. We are not the operator and not a reseller: the datacenter pays us a fee, you contract directly with them, and nothing we recommend is exclusive.
What a NorthC placement in Amsterdam looks like.
Indicative figures for the Amsterdam market, not a quote and not a spec sheet. Ask us for the current site, hall and availability before you plan anything around them.
- Amsterdam metro
- NorthC runs datacenters in several Dutch cities, five of them in the Amsterdam region: Amsterdam 1 in Sloterdijk, Amsterdam 2 in Zuidoost, Oude Meer by Schiphol, Aalsmeer and Almere. We place into all five; ask us which hall has space now, because availability moves.
- 3–70 kW per rack
- The band we usually place. The real ceiling is set by the hall you go into and its cooling design, so ask per hall.
- AMS-IX · NL-ix
- Both exchanges have points of presence in NorthC buildings in the Amsterdam region, though not in every building. Check the in-building carrier and exchange list before you order ports.
- A regional second site
- NorthC has a footprint beyond Amsterdam. If a second site outside the Randstad is a better disaster recovery answer than a second Amsterdam hall, that is worth asking about.
- 10–40 minutes by road
- Indicative, outside rush hour: NorthC lists five sites in the Amsterdam region, two in the city, two near Schiphol and one in Almere. From the city centre the two city sites are about 10 to 20 minutes away, the two near Schiphol about half an hour and Almere about 40 minutes; from Schiphol the airport-side sites are under 15 minutes and Almere about 40. The exact address decides this; ask before you build a move-in plan around it.
Three workloads that fit a NorthC hall.
Five things to pin down in writing.
- Which site, which hall
- Get the address and the hall in the offer, not just the operator name. Capacity, cooling, carrier mix and certificates differ per building, and so does the price.
- Power ceiling per hall
- What the hall delivers per rack today, what the A and B feeds are rated at, and what happens when you want to double it in year two.
- Cross-connects and IX ports
- The monthly per connect, the one-off, and which carriers are in the meet-me room. A cheap rack with a thin carrier list is not cheap.
- Term and exit
- Notice period, what happens at renewal, and what it costs to leave. Ask before you sign; it never gets easier to negotiate later.
- Remote hands SLA
- Response time, what is included, what is billed per quarter hour, and how you raise a P1 at 03:00. Test it once while it still costs you nothing.
When NorthC is not the answer.
The rest of the metro, in one place.
Reseller status, NorthC against Digital Realty, sites.
Are you a NorthC reseller?
No. We are an independent advisor and we work with datacenters such as NorthC and Digital Realty. You contract directly with the datacenter; they pay us a fee. We never add a margin.
NorthC or Digital Realty?
It depends on power per rack, the carriers you need, availability on your timeline and the price the two come back with. We put the same brief to both and compare the answers with you. The questions we ask both are in Digital Realty vs NorthC.
Which NorthC sites are in Amsterdam?
Five in the Amsterdam region: Amsterdam 1 in Sloterdijk, Amsterdam 2 in Zuidoost, Oude Meer by Schiphol, Aalsmeer and Almere. We place into all five. Ask us which halls have space now, because availability moves. Why little new space is being added in Amsterdam and Haarlemmermeer is in Capacity in Amsterdam in 2026.
Do you do a few servers at NorthC?
No. Dedicated racks, cages and suites only. For a handful of servers we will point you at a shared-colocation party that does it properly.
Want NorthC and the alternatives priced side by side?
Give us racks, power per rack, redundancy and timeline. We brief the operators that fit and you compare real numbers.
