Service · dedicated racks

Rack colocation in Amsterdam: dedicated full racks

One rack or ten, 42U or 47U, with your own keys, your own committed power and your own carriers. We size it, place it and negotiate it; the datacenter invoices you directly.

What you get

A rack contract with nothing shared in it.

01
A full rack, not a slice
Lockable front and rear, your PDUs or theirs, your cable management. Nobody else’s gear behind your door.
Dedicated
02
Drawable kW, not the breaker rating
3–10 kW per rack is the normal air-cooled band in Amsterdam halls. We check it against your measured draw, not the nameplate.
Measured
03
Your own carriers
Cross-connects to transit, AMS-IX and NL-ix ordered inside the building. Your IP space, your ASN, your BGP.
Your network
04
A contract you can read
Committed kW, metered overage, term, indexation, remote-hands rates. We tell you which of those lines move.
Negotiated
Specs that matter

What is in a rack contract.

A rack quote is six lines long. These are the six, and the order in which they decide the price.
Rack size
42U or 47U, 600 or 800 mm wide, 1070–1200 mm deep. Halls differ; 47U is not offered everywhere.
Power per rack
3–10 kW air-cooled is the usual band. Above that you are choosing a high-density hall, not a rack.
Feeds
A+B on separate paths, single or three phase. You commit kW; the fuse rating is not the commit.
Connectivity
Cross-connects in the meet-me room, AMS-IX and NL-ix ports, dark fibre to Nikhef if a carrier is elsewhere.
Access
24/7 badge access, your own rack keys, escorted visitors on request.
Remote hands
Per incident or a monthly bundle: reboots, swaps, eyes on a blinking light. Rates are negotiable.
How we place it

Four steps, from rack count to keys.

  1. 01
Tell us what you needHow many racks, kW per rack, A+B, which carriers, and when you need to be live.
  2. 02
We engineer and negotiateWe check your draw against the hall’s ceiling, then push the rack fee and the kW rate.
  3. 03
We fast-track the introductionThe account manager gets your rack count and power commit up front, not on call three.
  4. 04
You contract with the datacenterRacks, badges, portal and SLA in your name. We help plan move-in day.
Who we’ll send elsewhere

No 1U, no half racks, no shared racks.

If you run five servers, a shared rack with bundled transit and one invoice is cheaper and simpler than anything we can arrange, and some parties do it well, so we will point you at one. Our end starts at a dedicated rack with your own power commit and your own carriers, because that is where the engineering and the negotiation are worth anything.
Questions we get

Rack count, 42U against 47U, own racks, power model.

How many racks do I need?

Usually fewer than the request says. We work it out from your measured kW draw and U count, and sometimes the answer is to consolidate into one denser rack and pay for power instead of floor space.

42U or 47U?

A 47U rack buys five more units on the same floor tile, if the hall’s ceiling height and your cable management allow it. Not every hall offers it, so we ask before the quote.

Can I bring my own racks?

In a cage or suite, usually yes. In a shared hall you normally take the datacenter’s rack, because the containment and the tile layout are theirs.

What if I outgrow the rack?

Reserve the adjacent position at signature. Amsterdam caps new datacenter build, so contiguous space is worth holding; past three or four racks a cage is the cheaper shape.

Is power committed or metered?

Normally a committed kW per rack with metered overage. The commit drives the price, so we size it on real draw rather than on the sum of the power supplies.

Send the rack count and the kW.

Two numbers and a date are enough to start. You get a sanity check within one business day and a negotiated rack quote from the datacenter after that.

Independent advisor, free to you: the datacenter pays our fee. You contract directly with Digital Realty, NorthC or another Amsterdam operator.
